Our Mission:

Mindful Valley's Mission is to provide Mindful Awareness Skills and Trainings in order to optimize health, well-being and success.

Vision: Our vision is that Mindful Valley will be here serving the community for hundreds of years to come. Long after we are all gone.

We teach the practice of mindfulness meditation as a path to wisdom and compassion to create transformation within the life of individuals and the community through classes, retreats and workshops.

We provide donation based sitting groups in order to serve a community of meditators who need to strengthen their practice via collective group energy and love.

No one is turned away for lack of funds. We offer work study, internships and volunteer opportunities to those with limited financial ability to pay for classes and services.

Mindful Valley is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization and looking to collaborate with other organizations or individuals who are interested in expanding mindfulness in the community.

Instructor - Buddha's Core Teachings

Co-Founded Mindful Valley, a mindfulness training organization for individuals and professionals. For more than 25 years, Daniel has formally practiced Insight (Vipassana) and Zen meditation. Daniel’s interest in meditation and contemplation began while on a Franciscan retreat with his Catholic school at age 11 and he was introduced to Buddhist Meditation in 1980. Some years later, while activities Coordinator with the Jan Berry Center For The Brain Injured, inspired by the neuroplastic qualities of the brain, he began studying and developing mindfulness exercises using drumming and other creative practices for people with serious brain trauma.

    Looking for the truth and peace, Manijeh communed with nature since she was three years old. She started practicing yoga in 1994 and came to Mindfulness in an undergrad class in 2004. Being overjoyed by finally finding a formal practice and teaching that she had all her life sought and intuitively applied, she delved deeply into the experiential Mindfulness practices and other Buddhist teachings that support Mindfulness.

Sousan Amiri, M.S, LMFT is a licensed Psychotherapist specialized in working with children, individuals, and families integrating psychotherapy and the world of Attachment Focused Therapy which considers the latest advances in the neuro-biology of interpersonal behavior and how this affects relationships and behaviors. Her educational background includes Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California State University, Channel Island. Ron Ames is a meditation practitioner who has studied with both Trudy Goodman and Noah Levine. He is currently a member of Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioner’s Program. Ron serves as a member on InsightLA’s Executive Council. He is a teacher in training with Trudy Goodman in InsightLA’s first teacher training cohort. Ron has a deep interest in the Twelve Steps particularly as they relate to meditation practice. He works in the film industry as a Producer and 1st Assistant Director on feature films.

Dr. Howard Blumenfeld


Dr. Howard Blumenfeld

Howard Blumenfeld, Ph.D. received his doctorate in Psychology and is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist. He specializes in treating stress disorders and has been teaching people how to reduce their stress since 1977.
In 1995, he participated in a week long Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training program for healthcare professionals directed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D.
Howard is a long-time meditation student of Shinzen Young, who is the founder of Vipassana Support International (VSI), and has been trained by Shinzen as a Mindfulness meditation facilitators with VSI. Shannon Lawler

Shannon Lawler is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC#48484) with a specialization in pregnancy, early motherhood and early childhood. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University Northridge, and has worked clinically for the past 10 years building healthy parent-child relationships and supporting secure attachments. During this time, Shannon has also been studying and practicing Mindfulness daily, and has integrated this practice throughout her own pregnancies and journey into motherhood.
